On Halloween afternoon, all six of our self-contained classrooms trick-or-treated around the school. For students who have autism, big Halloween events and trick-or-treating is often overwhelming. Gilbert Special Education teachers and paras brought students to select locations, including the office, the principal, the nurse, the counselor and speech therapists. Students practiced making eye contact, saying “Trick or Treat” and saying “thank you” for their candy. There were very excited to have this experience!
