Health Resource Fair at Adams Elementary

With the holidays approaching and given the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to host a Health Resource Fair and COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for all YSD families on December 9th at Adams elementary. At this event families had access to COVID Vaccines, Flu Vaccines, and health resources/information from more than 15 Organizations. Our efforts were focused on keeping families safe and healthy during the upcoming holiday season.

The Health Resource Fair was a huge success with 115 families, and a total of 354 people in attendance. Of those in attendance 93 received a COVID-19 Vaccine, 39 Adults and 54 Children. There were also 50+ flu shots administered that evening.

Families also had the opportunity to take pictures with Santa, and took home some yummy tamales and hot chocolate kits!

I would like to thank everyone who participated and helped organize this event, especially the following departments: Family & Community Engagement Supervisors, Migrant Student Services, Health Services, and Early Learning. Also a special thanks to Adams Elementary staff for hosting and accommodating the event’s needs. Last but not least, I would like to give a huge shout out to Stanton Academy senior Leonel Tapia aka Santa Claus!

We will be hosting the next Health Resource Fair on January 6th, 2022 at Adams Elementary from 4-7pm. This will allow those who received their 1st COVID Vaccine to get their 2nd dose at the same location.
