Today we celebrate Briauna Marquis! YWCA Yakima is on a mission to empower women. #52women52weeks was created to celebrate and highlight the amazing women & #SHEros in the #yakimavalley. More about Briauna..
What is one word that describes you perfectly?
What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?
Choose daily to be true to who you are and make sure you’re reflecting the values and beliefs you hold dear rather than molding to the world around you.
What makes you happy?
My favorite place to be is with people. This can be hiking, gathering, or at work. I enjoy sharing and having conversations with others. My absolute favorite people to be with are family and friends.
How do you measure success?
I measure success by the people around me. If people choose to be in my space and there is mutual respect and admiration, then I believe I have been successful in sharing my values and beliefs and that I have been true to myself, while accepting others values and beliefs.
What historical event inspires you the most?
When I was a teenager, I spoke negatively about myself to my mom, and she said to me, “You will become what you speak to yourself, so always speak highly of you.” This really hit home for me because my mom struggles with low self-esteem and I knew her wish for me would be to overcome that hurdle.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“I/We love you morester!” This is a quote my family and I say to each other all the time and it means I love you more than most so it’s the biggest love. I never want the people in my life to question the love I have for them. This is a fun way to express it
